In terms of vintage style, I try to not be too busty. But when you get into the vintage world, you get mixed up in the pinup/rockabilly style as well. So it never hurts to try something a little different. That’s why I purchased this light blue cross top from Doll Me Up.
At the time of purchase, my bust measurement was way off. I was going by my previous bra sizing and not actually measuring myself, so I purchased a size 2X when an XL or 1X would have been a better size.
The top slips on, no zipper, so the silhouette is very nice. The spandex blend used gives the top a lot of stretch which is why this size was too big on me. I’m able to sew so I might do some alterations of my own in order to keep this top.
Though the top is rather busty, I was able to wear a strapless bra to keep myself up and confidently covered. If I had gotten my correct size, the built-in bra may have been enough to keep the girls in check but alas, I wouldn’t know.
For my first purchase from the site, I had an extremely pleasant experience. I would have exchanged the top but in my personal opinion, its better to not spend money to send something back when you can adjust it yourself. The shop is absolutely wonderful and has amazing deals on a lot of vintage/pinup/rockabilly styles.

What a surprise we got this year when my husband was told he was being sent to cover Halloween Horror Nights in Hollywood, California for HHN Unofficial! I was beyond excited since I’ve never traveled that far west before and I had always dreamed of going to Hollywood.
It was perfect timing for my vintage journey. It gave me the chance to purchase and pack up for the first time for an event. This meant I had to make sure I had the right outfits planned, the right shoes, the right accessories.
I bought my first items from Lindy Bop. A pair of Kendra trousers to wear at the parks and throughout the day in order to remain comfortable in the changing temperatures. Also, a Lindy Bop Thea tea dress for the last day so I could be free of leg prisons (aka pants).
We only spent 3 days there and we had a wonderful time. We walked and Ubered all around Los Angeles. We saw the Walk of Fame, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, Grauman’s Chinese Theater, and of course, Universal Studios Hollywood.
I got alot of wear from the trousers and they are still my favorite comfy pants. I tend to wear alot of black and muted colors but with vintage, it always helps to have a little pop of color every once in a while.
Walking around Hollywood, I got alot of compliments on my hair (which was straight up until the heat hit) and my style in general. It was a great confidence boost. I didn’t visit mecca (PUG Boutique located in Burbank) because we were short on time due to my husband’s work, but there’s always next time!
