Bésame and Victorian Stripes

Yesterday, I was ecstatic to receive two items (technically three) that I had lusted over for months. Bésame Cosmetics lip colors I purchased from an Ipsy sale and Laura Byrnes Cigarette Pants in Victorian Stripes purchased from a Swap & Sell.

I couldn’t have been happier with the fit of the pants. I was a little worried about the size. I grabbed these, size 2X, instead of the size I thought I would be, XL. Thankfully, they fit just perfect around my hips which are the hardest area for me to fit in pants.

These trousers give me a wonderful shape and silhouette without feeling like a sausage. With some cigarette pants, I find myself having to hide my extra poof with a flowy top, but I could actually tuck in my shirt with these.

The lip colors were just as satisfying. I received the Tango Red (Reproduction from 1939) and American Beauty (Reproduction from 1945) colors and they are perfectly vintage.

My favorite of the two is the American Beauty. I find that I prefer red lipcolors with bluer undertones and darker tints as opposed to orange undertones. The texture is quite nice on the lips and the color stayed on through eating and drinking.

The trousers originally retail for $92.00 but I got them on the Swap & Sell for almost half the price and in fantastic condition. The lip colors normally retail for $25.00 each and I received them both at a price of $19.00 from Ipsy. They are definitely worth the price but I’m so glad I was able to get them within my budget!

Black Friday Snags

In addition to my Catch of the Day purchases, I also ordered some tops and accessories from Doll Me Up on Black Friday. Normally, Doll Me Up’s prices are perfect for my budget anyway but on Black Friday, everything was 60%. I could not pass it up.

I ordered this beautiful pink top that, truly, goes with everything in my closet. The fit is perfect and I love the fabric. I purchased the mermaid brooch as well and love the glittery black against the pink.

My only issue was the sheerness, I tend to wear camisoles under my tops anyway but it still bothered me to have my skin show through.

I also purchased a white peasant top (my first!). I was concerned about the fit because they only had a 2X available at this price (I paid $4.99 for this) but it fit just right.

I paired it with my Sky Blue Jenny skirt from Pinup Girl Clothing and immediately felt like a Disney princess.

My husband was gone when I tried this on so I took full advantage of walking around and enjoying the feel of this outfit with no one to judge me!

The cat pin really gives me a laugh because you can see the star for his bottom. I absolutely love pins and this is a great addition to my collection.

By far, these were my favorite purchases and I now have a complete top collection to go with my skirts and trousers. It has only been a few months and already my wardrobe is completely changed!

Gone Fishing at Unique Vintage

Black Friday couldn’t have come at a worst time for my budget but I was able to snag a few deals here and there, including my Unique Vintage Catch of the Day purchases. I ordered a top and bottom since each was on sale for 30%. My total was less than $20.

20161201_170622

It was like a surprise for myself because I had no idea what I was getting, just that it was in my size. I was hoping for a swing skirt and a top that would go with skirts I already had. Instead, I received a pencil skirt and a flowy top.

p1020118

The skirt was just perfect. Not something I would normally buy myself, but the fit was nice and I love plaid, so it works perfectly in my wardrobe. I liked the way the spandex/rayon blend hugged my curves in the right spots.

I had a dilemma with the top. Was it a top? Was it a really short dress?

p1020133

I wasn’t quite sure. But I was determined to make it work.

p1020135

Thankfully, it paired well with my Lindy Bop Kendra capri trousers I had purchased for my California trip. I almost felt like my grandma with this outfit, but it really grew on me because of how comfy it was.

Honestly, I think the Catch of the Day is a great deal, especially with the 30% off. For someone who is not really sure what they want, but needs to expand their wardrobe anyway, it worked out for me.

The Circus Has Come to Town

In another Swap & Sell purchase, I picked up a skirt I had been eyeing for months. My husband used to be a huge unicycle enthusiast (even taught a few lessons because he was so good) and loved penny farthings. When I spotted the Strongman Skirt from RockSteady, I wanted it, but it was a little out of my budget.

p1020020

Thankfully, someone on a Swap & Sell was selling it for less so I bought it right away. It was my first item from Rock Steady and the quality is about the same as I would expect from Hell Bunny or Sourpuss, etc.

psx_20161127_173818

The skirt has a bit of stretch to it. I’ve found that with this polyester/rayon/spandex blend, it hugs the curves but also allows for a bit of movement without fear of ripping anything.

psx_20161127_190432

I love the pattern and the kick pleats added around the skirt. I paired it with my favorite short sleeve turtle neck and some seamed stockings to really vintage the look up.

psx_20161127_173424

Overall, I think this skirt was a great purchase but I’m not sure where I’d wear this skirt yet. Hopefully, my husband and I will find ourselves at a circus or La Nouba and I’ll have a reason to wear this beauty out.
